1. Confirm you're eligible
You must be 16+ for most licence categories.
Have some form of ID ready (passport or public services card).
2. Gather the documents + info you'll need
You need these before you even try to book:
- Valid email address (you'll get all confirmations here).
- Valid phone number (optional but useful for reminders).
- Payment method (debit/credit card).
- Category you're sitting (usually B for cars).
- Your PPS number (very often required).
5. Pay for the test
Standard car theory test: €45 (price can change but this is the usual).
- Pay by card.
- Wait for the booking confirmation email.
What that email MUST contain:
- Test centre address
- Date & time
- Reference number
- Rules & what to bring
If this email doesn't arrive → check spam → contact support.
6. Start preparation (do NOT skip this)
To actually be prepared:
- Official RSA Questions & Answers (the exact bank used in the real test).
- Practice hazard perception (if your category needs it).
- Practice mock exams until you consistently score 90%+.
This is where your DriveFlow-style prep system fits in.
7. Know what ID you must bring
Accepted ID for Ireland usually includes:
- Irish passport
- Irish Public Services Card
- Irish Residence Permit
Bring the exact ID that matches the details used during booking.
8. Understand test-day rules
These are non-negotiable:
- Arrive 15 minutes early.
- No phones or smartwatches inside.
- No notes, no study materials at the desk.
- You must sign in and confirm your identity.
9. Double-check logistics the day before
This is where most people mess up. Tick all of this:
Know exactly where the test centre is
Check traffic / bus schedules
Lay out your ID
Check your booking confirmation email again
